Elouise is a song that’s really close to my heart. I started writing it back in April 2017 during a summer drive through BC, and it’s been through so many changes since then—as I grew, the song kind of grew with me.
A lot of the inspiration came from coming-of-age movies like The Perks of Being a Wallflower—that feeling of growing up, figuring things out, and all the messy, beautiful moments in between. I even wrote a full monologue meant to be read over the intro, but never got around to actually recording it.
By the time I landed on Version 35 in May 2019, it finally felt right.
