Behind the song

This record began as an instrumental demo I sent Alyssa back in 2020. She replied with a voice note that completely shifted the song’s direction. From there it kept changing, gathering new textures and moods as the seasons passed, until we finally landed on a version that felt like it had grown alongside us. It carries everything we experienced through those years.


The music video for ‘hold out hope’ was filmed on a road trip through the East Coast of Canada with two of my close friends. I wanted each frame to stand on its own, like a photograph, and tell a small story without overshadowing the journey itself. My friends kindly offered to be part of the video, but I didn’t want to direct them too strictly. The story follows a young couple through fleeting memories and ends with a quiet, bittersweet shot of the man standing by the ocean, holding his former wife’s wedding rings. What happened between them is left to your imagination, but the man is still holding out hope for his love.
